Stone Honing Sydney

stone honing

StoneMaster® can remove dull areas and create a soft, matte and velvety smooth appearance with little or no gloss that is more suited to casual, comfortable environments than a formal polished surface.

More and more households and businesses in Sydney these days are having their surfaces honed, the procedure by which a shiny or polished surface is customised into a beautifully smooth, low sheen matte finish, leaving the surfaces looking elegant and in their beautiful natural state. Honing is achieved by polishing the surface with an abrasive wheel, but not long enough to create the glossiness of a typical polished tile. Honing creates a look that is low key and not too overwhelming as some people find with highly polished, glossy floors.

Honed surfaces look fantastic, but special care is required as they can be less resilient to damage. Honed natural stone can becomes quickly etched, or corroded by acidic materials upon contact by common household substances such as soft drink, tea, citrus juice and acidic cleaning products. A surface with a matte or honed finish needs to be as a rule, periodically cleaned and re-sealed by a professional and should ideally be sealed with a deep penetrating, impregnating sealer, which avoids staining and reduces the effect of soiling. StoneMaster® we prefer to use a non-toxic sealer called Deepshield® Transparent Penetrating Sealer, which is non-slip and can last for up to 15 years.

How to Measure Size in m2:

It is simple to calculate the square metre size of an area.

When measuring rectangular shaped areas. Just multiply the length by the width in metres and you have the answer.

When measuring more complex shapes it is best to divide them into separate rectangles and then add them together to get a total area.
